This project was born out of a deep respect and love for Flamenco and the desire to show and transmit its values, both cultural and human, as well as the need to pay tribute to it and give it the importance it deserves in society. Fused with another of Chicharrón’s great passions, the Circus, and through humor and satire, this show aims to share a conception of “Flamenco”.

Chicharrón, in his itinerancy carries with him, a song to freedom, a tribute to Flamenco, to women and to the events of life. A crossbreeding of arts in which between humor and drama, it will trap us to place some polka dots in our lives.

With this show, First Prize Panorama Circada 2020, we present a project born from a deep respect and love for flamenco and the desire to show and transmit its values, both cultural and human, as well as the need to pay tribute to it and give it the importance it deserves in society. Merging the Circus and through humor, this show aims to share a conception of “Lo Flamenco”.

No Ojana means no lies, no hypocrisy. Chicharrón, carries with him, a song to freedom. A crossbreeding of arts in which between humor and drama, will catch us to put some polka dots to our lives.

The world of entertainment is one of the sectors that has been most affected this 2020 by the health situation. However, many of the artists have taken advantage of these months to work on their projects and have presented them despite the restrictions. This is the case of ‘Sin Ojana’, a show by the Cordovan Germán López that mixes circus, theater and flamenco.  A work that has led him to win the first prize at the Circada festival in Seville, among many others.

Hence the name. In gypsy slang, the word “ojana” symbolizes hypocrisy, “what would be insincere applause when a show ends. I didn’t want that; when Pepa Gil asked me what the name of the play should be, it was clear to both of us when I said what I didn’t want. Sin ojana means no lies,” says the artist.

Claiming the importance of the cultural sector after the pandemic and showing that Cordoba has a special place in the circus world is also one of the messages that this work wants to show. “I’m worried that the people of Córdoba don’t know that our city has nationally recognized works and that’s what I want to show too, because I, for example, always carry Córdoba as my flag” says López, who this Wednesday premieres the work for the first time in his city.
